About the Ciocca Office of Entrepreneurial Studies (COES)

The goal of COES is to nurture principled leaders who will add value to society by solving problems with entrepreneurial ideas and innovative methods.

Founded in 2006 with funding from Arthur A. Ciocca ’59, current chairman and owner of The Wine Group, Inc., COES introduces Holy Cross students to a range of business concepts, opportunities, skills — and more. Tomorrow’s business leaders must have an understanding of global issues, the resources to tackle complex challenges, and a grounding in socially responsible, ethical business practices.

Holy Cross’ own alumni are the key to COES distinctiveness. These leaders in innovation and entrepreneurship, finance, management, marketing, and other fields return to campus for hands-on workshops, seminars, and lectures; and are actively engaged in mentoring and networking opportunities. Working in conjunction with the Career Planning Center and the Summer Internship Program, the programs in COES (all are offered without academic credit) gives students a jump-start on bringing their liberal arts education into the marketplace.

One in three Holy Cross Alumni work in the business world.

Why choose Holy Cross’ program over being a business undergraduate at another college?

    •    Entrepreneurship is important to society and the greater good: The COES approach is derived from the College’s Jesuit mission, and incorporates business values, ethics and morals into its programs. COES aspires to illustrate the critical importance of creativity and innovation to business success, which directly leads to social well-being.
    •    Major in anything, succeed in business: Combining the stellar Holy Cross liberal arts education with the unique opportunities offered by COES, Holy Cross students are empowered to both major in what they are passionate about and be successful in business.
    •    Alumni Participants: Rather than traditional business school faculty, the teachers inside COES are a prestigious “who’s who” among some of Holy Cross’ most accomplished graduates.
    •    Real world skills = Experience for life: COES connects theory with practice and provides “real world” experiences for all students that take place both inside and outside a traditional classroom setting.

COES & Prebusiness offers various non-credit programs featuring business alumni who serve as instructors to prebusiness students.

The major programs currently offered by the office include:
    1. Executive Leadership Workshop
    2. Summer Business Program
    3. Women in Business
    4. Finance Boot Camp
    5. Dinner Speaker Series
    6. Career Workshops
    7. Advising
